When we spotted these beauties at a local antique shop, my mom and I knew we had to have them. Something about the old peeling paint that had found it's home on the delicately arched window panes was just so inviting.

And look how they are instantly transformed into a gorgeous backdrop piece by adding lace paper flowers!

A few nights ago we teamed up with BHLDN to host a Valentine crafting party! Utilizing vintage notions from Recollection and lovely trims and decor from BHLDN, 25 lucky guests learned how to hand craft two adorable Valentine gifts taught by the fabulous stylists at BHLDN. Dionne taught the art of crafting paper fortune cookies, and Balushka showed the girls how to make the sweetest heartfelt card! Meet the two newest additions to the Recollection Collection! This first beauty is ultra delicate and femine and totally unique in style! It would be gorgeous for a bridal.

This Victorian sofa was just re-uphostered in a fabulous mustard color and looks stunning! It has already taken it's first journey last weekend to an outdoor bridal shoot in Columbus, TX.

Adorable Outdoor Family Session

Back in November we had the opportunity to style an outdoor family session- and not just any family- one of the cutest I have ever seen! (and I'm not at all bias, being that these two adorable boys are my nephews ;-)) But, seriously, how cute?!!
The photo shoot took place at Champions Golf Club, which was the perfect back drop for an outdoor session. The family came looking super sharp in their coordinating outfits. The boy's shirts by Strawberry Blonde Boutique were perfect!
We wanted to incorporate vintage toys and bright reds and blues- perfect for little boys!
Liam had a ball! We tried to save the toys for last, but he spotted them early on!

Christa Elyce captured this session beautifully! We had so much fun and can't wait to do more family sessions!

A Girl's Best Friend

This next shower is one of the most thoughtful events we have had the pleasure of participating in. Brandee contacted Recollection all the way from Afghanistan, where she has been working for the last year, seeking help to plan the perfect bridal shower for her best friend, Kristal. She envisioned a color palette of red, champagne and chocolate brown with lots of dainty feminine details, jewels and accessories (certainly every woman's best friend)! We love how all of Brandee's ideas came together in this lovely and festive shower!

Festive floral were arranged in Recollection's vintage gold vases

Jewelry and accessories adorned the tables for the ladies to admire, choose, and trade. How fun!

Flirty + Romantic Wedding Shoot

Yuuummy! This deliciously fun and flirty shoot was an absolute dream to work on! Our incredibly stylish bride, Amanda wowed us from day one with her amazing style and impeccable taste for all things pretty! Amanda and Brandon are an absolutely adorable couple and we were delighted to style this sweet and romantic shoot for them with Rachel Robinson Photography. From the scrumptious, pink Betsey Johnson dress, to the beautiful BHLDN tea length gown, the images of this shoot read like a perfect fairytale. We love the whimsical tea party and Amanda's cute "mini mad hat" and the shopping cart scene was inspired but Amanda's love for shopping! Brandon was such a good sport and his love for Amanda is so endearing. Congrats to this fun couple!

Years before we launched Recollection, I can remember my mother and I visiting the Gardens of Bammel Lane and instantly falling in love with this quaint venue nestled inside the bustling River Oaks area of Houston. We were immediately smitten with this Old English Conservatory imported from London, and the impeccably kept grounds that surround it. Recently we had the opportunity to participate in their open house, assisting in the event design from the invitations, to the decor, and more! We were overjoyed to be able to showcase our vintage rentals at this hidden gem and hope to be a part of many more events at this charming venue! The stunning bride in this next session is a native Texan who now lives in Calgary, Alberta. For her bridals, she really wanted to pull out the rustic charm that we all know and love while still keeping it soft, pretty, and elegant. We absolutely adore how this shoot came together. The raw, rugged beauty of the stables provided the perfect backdrop for Robyn's delicate beauty to shine. We would like to offer a special thanks to the sweet girl who graciously offered her beloved horse, who tried his hardest to steal the show and kept us entertained throughout.

"Unveiling" our Bridal Extravaganza Photo Booth Backdrops 2011

The Bridal Extravaganza is happening this weekend! By now, the excitement is certainly at its peak! Brides will soon be arriving, ready to race into the George R. Brown and meet some of Houston's best vendors, all in one place! While we are not participating in the show this year, we do get to make a little cameo appearance in LG Entertaintment's booth. We will have two photo booth backdrops that we designed specifically for the Bridal Show on display.

The first design is our vintage pink and white striped chaise paired with the prettiest and most sparkly garland I have ever seen, to create an ultra glam backdrop for photos.

The second is a vanity set we created with the bride in mind. A very plush royal chair and the perfect props for "getting ready! "

So ladies, get ready and stop by LG's booth, to strike a pose in our sets! You will receive instant print outs of your images!

One of the best things about starting this business is the amazing people that we have gotten to meet along the way. We have been so fortunate to be connected with some of Houston's finest industry professionals who are not only super talented, but also so sweet, so genuine, and so supportive of our business! It means the world to us! A few people in particular, are Adam of Adam Nyholt photography, as well as his creative assistant, Courtney! Recently, we participated in their Open House fundraiser for YES Prep public schools. YES Prep exists to increase the number of low-income Houstonians who graduate from a four-year college. Adam wanted to create a fun backdrop for guests to take photos, and so we staged an old-fashioned school house

A Soldier and His Beautiful Bride

Recollection was honored to be a part of Kimberley and Danny's touching engagement photo shoot. Danny is currently serving in the military and will be deployed to Iraq in the next few weeks. His sweetheart, Kimberly will patiently await his return home in anticipation of their wedding celebration next year. Rachel Robinson beautifully captured the sweet and endearing bond between this precious couple and we are so happy to share these images with you.

A Day at the Lake Engagement Session

When Rachel Robinson approached us to help assist with a vintage , "notebookesque" inspired engagement shoot, we were ecstatic! The cute and clever couple already had the ideas mapped out in their head for a perfect photo shoot. The ingredients? A charming picnic under the trees, a rustic, handmade (by the groom!) Save the Date sign, and most definitely a canoe! We gathered up all of the necessary props, (yes, including that amazing canoe!) and headed out for a day at the lake. The couple brought along a picnic feast representing his love for burgers, and her love for sweets :-)

A Hill Country Affair

In the very early stages of our company's formation, we had the fantastic opportunity to participate in the Patio on Mercer's Open House. This outdoor, patio style venue is perfect for charming gatherings and we were so happy to participate in their rustic chic event, "A Hill Country Affair." It was a great chance for us to dive right into the business and stage some really cool vignettes. We used our rustic yellow farm table for the sign in table, as well as our super cool theater seats (from an old church in the Heights!) We also utilized our old bicycle basket for marketing materials. The beautiful flowers by Something Special in Flowers, were arranged in our floral vessels.

Our vintage leather blue chairs fit in perfectly with the decor and served as comfy lounge seating.
